DIRECTED by Australian rising

talent Claire McCarthy and produced

by Jamie Hilton, THE WAITING CITY tells the story of an outwardly happy Australian couple who journey to India to collect their adopted baby. When they arrive in Calcutta they discover that the adoption arrangements have still to be finalised. Soon the intoxicating mystic power of the city pulls them in separate and unexpected directions and the vulnerability of their marriage begins to reveal itself. The first Australian feature film to be shot entirely in India, THE WAITING CITY is an intimate, complex love story of transformation, set against the exhilarating epic backdrop of Calcutta.

Humanitarian and world renowned cricket champion Steve Waugh, recently commented:

“THE WAITING CITY is a thoroughly enjoyable movie that gives the viewers a realistic insight into the spirit, character and culture of the Indian people, while telling a stimulating story with an ending that will guarantee discussion well after you’ve left the cinema.” (Steve Waugh AO)

The Waiting City will be released in selected cinemas around Australia on July 15th and stars Radha Mitchell (Surrogates, Feast of Love, Melinda and Melinda), Joel Edgerton (Animal Kingdom, Star Wars) Isabel Lucas (Daybreakers, Transformers 2) Samrat Chakrabarti (Loins of Punjab Presents, The War Within) and Tillotama Shome (Monsoon Wedding)
